Philadelphia Committee for Independent Culture (PCIC) is an eclectic
grouping of volunteers from Philadelphia and the surrounding community
who have varying levels of performance/production experience.

Key
to developmental theater is the discovery that performanceoff
stage (in life) as well as onis a growthful activity. We view
performance as developmental adult playa way of developing
in day-to-day life: going beyond yourself, doing what you don't
know how to do.
PCIC
is affiliated with a national network of independent cultural centers
dedicated to developmental theater. This network includes the founding
Castillo Theater in NYC, a
successful off off Broadway cultural center that showcases postmodern
political theater, cutting edge Black theater and the international
avant garde, including the ground-breaking works of artistic director
Fred Newman.
